Thank you for your interest in presenting at the ISAM2021 Global Congress, the premier global event dedicated to providing world-class addiction medicine education. The global congress provides an exceptional opportunity to highlight new research, innovative practices, sociopolitical ideas and new approaches to treatment amongst an audience of international colleagues. Our goal is to help support those in the addiction medicine field to deliver cutting-edge care to patients the world over.

What topics will be featured in ISAM2021 Global Congress?

Abstracts on all aspects of addiction are welcome for submission. In 2021, abstracts that focus on exploring global solutions to international problems in the field of addiction medicine are especially encouraged, including:

  • Drug, alcohol and non-pharmacological addiction-related policies
  • Inequalities and vulnerabilities
  • Addiction mechanisms
  • Multiple morbidities
  • Recovery and harm reduction
  • Interface and care principles
  • Novel treatments and other interventions
  • Digitalisation

Abstracts should present new scientific research, best practices and evidence-based addiction treatment, care and intervention practices. The committee favors original, new work based on the latest evidence and data. Diverse perspectives on addiction treatment and recovery are encouraged.

What types of presentations will be featured in ISAM2021 Global Congress?

The ISAM2021 Global Congress will feature four types of presentations:

Symposium

A 90-minute session intended to give attendees an in-depth understanding on a specific clinical or scientific topic.

Oral Presentation

A 15-20 minute presentation of a clinical or scientific report, usually related to new research findings. Oral presentations on similar topics will be grouped together into 90-minute Topic Sessions.

Poster Presentation

An opportunity to share addiction-related ideas, research or clinical work using prepared electronic posters. ISAM encourages everyone, especially trainees, to submit abstract posters.

Plenary Presentations

Please select this presentation type only if the conference committee has invited you to give a plenary session.

Who is eligible to submit an abstract?

ISAM encourages submissions from all addiction medicine practitioners including students, young investigators, researchers and health and social care providers from diverse organizations and fields.

You do not need to be an ISAM registered member to submit an abstract. However, if you are submitting an abstract we encourage you to consider becoming a member as your membership will provide you with a substantial discount to the congress registration.

What must I include in my abstract submission?

Each abstract must include a title, 300-word summary, a short biography of the presenter, learning objectives and references. For detailed submission information please visit our abstract submission platform, here.

When will I find out if my submission has been accepted?

Decisions regarding abstracts will be completed by September 15, 2021. The decision of the congress committee is final.
